Piercing Aftercare – Keep It clean keep it cute
So, you’ve got yourself a shiny new piercing – nice choice!
Now let’s keep it looking fresh, healthy, and not like something out of a horror film
The Golden Rule: Chamomile Tea
Forget overpriced magic potions – one of the best, natural ways to soothe and clean your piercing is chamomile tea.
Here’s how you do it:
Brew It – Make a cup of chamomile tea (plain, unflavoured, and caffeine-free).
Cool It – Let it cool until it’s warm but not hot.
Soak It – Use a clean cotton pad or gauze, soak it in the tea, and gently press it against your piercing for 5–10 minutes.
Rinse After – Gently rinse with cooled boiled water or sterile saline to remove any residue.
Repeat – Do this once or twice a day for the first couple of weeks, especially if it feels tender.
Why chamomile?
It’s anti-inflammatory, soothing, and helps reduce swelling and irritation naturally. Plus, it smells better than anything in the chemist’s antiseptic aisle.
General Piercing Care Tips
Hands Off – Don’t touch your piercing unless you’re cleaning it, and even then, wash your hands first.
No Twisting or Turning – This isn’t the lid of a jar – leave it alone so it can heal.
Shower, Don’t Soak – Avoid swimming pools, hot tubs, and long baths for the first month.
Skip the Harsh Stuff – No alcohol, peroxide, or Savlon. They dry and damage healing skin.
Watch for Snags – Be careful with clothing, hair, and bedsheets.
