Navel Piercing in Irlam: What to Check Before Booking

Thinking about a navel piercing? Choosing the jewellery is the fun part, but the first question is whether the placement suits your anatomy. A photograph of someone else’s belly-button piercing can show the look you like; it cannot confirm that the same position or jewellery will work for you.

At The Viper Pit in Irlam, Chris assesses suitability before proceeding. Here is what to check before booking a navel piercing in the Manchester and Salford area.

Can everyone get a navel piercing?

Not every navel is suited to a standard placement. This is why the assessment matters, even if you already know exactly which look you want. An online booking reserves an appointment; it does not replace the piercer’s check or guarantee that the piercing can go ahead.

If you are unsure, contact the studio before booking and explain your question. Mention any previous piercing in the area, including one that has closed. An in-person assessment may still be needed before the piercer can give a definite answer.

Choose starter jewellery for fit first

A decorative bar you have seen online is not automatically the right choice for a new piercing. Length, thickness, style and material all matter, and the jewellery needs to suit the individual placement.

The Association of Professional Piercers’ guidance on initial jewellery explains why appropriate sizing and style come before appearance. Bring a reference for the look you like, then discuss suitable starter options with your piercer.

If you already own jewellery you hope to use, ask us about it in advance. Do not assume that a piece described online as a “belly bar” is suitable for your appointment, or buy a particular length before the fit has been assessed.

What does a navel piercing cost at The Viper Pit?

Our live booking menu lists a navel piercing at £35, including suitable starter jewellery and aftercare guidance. This was checked on 4 November 2026. Confirm the current price and any jewellery extras before proceeding.

You can view the wider range on our piercing menu or use the live booking page to check appointment options.

Check age, identification and consent before travelling

The current navel service is listed for ages 14 and over, subject to suitability and studio consent requirements. If you are under 18, contact us to confirm the identification and parent or legal guardian requirements before attending. Check the service details when booking so you arrive prepared.

Our piercing appointment checklist covers the practical questions to sort out before your visit.

Think about clothing and your plans afterwards

Tell your piercer if your usual waistband, work uniform or sports kit sits directly over your navel. Also mention upcoming swimming, holidays or activities that may affect how you care for the piercing. It is better to discuss timing before the appointment than to discover afterwards that your plans conflict with the aftercare advice.

Wear clothing that allows the area to be assessed without awkward adjustments. Ask what changes to your normal routine may be needed and when a jewellery fit check would be appropriate.

When can you change the jewellery?

Do not set a jewellery-change date based only on how settled the outside looks. Ask your piercer to advise on healing and fit. A routine check, a change needed during healing and a decorative change later are different appointments.

Read our downsizing and jewellery-change guide if you are unsure which to request. For care instructions, use our piercing aftercare guide alongside the advice given at your appointment.
