Little Viper aftercare
Gentle care for little ears. A practical guide for parents and guardians after an earlobe-piercing appointment.
A responsible adult should manage cleaning and check the ears and jewellery each day.
A simple daily routine
Wash your hands. Clean gently around the front and back using the aftercare routine explained at the appointment. A sterile saline wound wash is suitable; ask us if you are unsure which product you have.
Dry carefully using clean disposable gauze or paper. Don’t twist the studs, pick crusts or let your child play with them. Avoid creams, petroleum jelly and antibiotic ointments unless a clinician advises them.
Keep little ears comfortable
Keep hair and hair products away, and take care with clothing that catches. Keep bedding clean and avoid unnecessary pressure or knocks. Avoid swimming while the ears heal; ask us about your child’s activities.
Leave starter earrings in throughout the advised healing period, including overnight. Do not change them just because the surface looks healed.
Check the jewellery
Check that the front and back remain visible and that the jewellery is not pressing into the skin. Contact us promptly if it feels too tight or loose. If a part becomes embedded, get urgent medical advice; don’t dig it out or push it through.
If jewellery falls out, keep the small parts away from children and contact us. Do not force jewellery back through a closing piercing.
When your child needs medical advice
Ask for an urgent GP appointment or call NHS 111 if you think your child’s piercing is infected. Increasing pain, heat, swelling, marked redness or darkening, pus, or feeling shivery or unwell need medical advice. Do not wait for a studio reply.
Leave jewellery in unless a doctor tells you to remove it. We can advise on routine care and fit, but cannot diagnose an infection.
